This workshops aim is to co-design policy-relevant research priorities to explore decarbonization pathways for the Western Balkans by 2050. We look for stakeholders from various backgrounds relevant to the transition, including researchers, policymakers, international organisations, academia, businesses, power utilities, transmission system operators, NGOs, civil society, and more. Our collective aim is to pinpoint and prioritize the most urgent research requirements linked to the energy transition. The event will take place in-person at the Sarajevo Energy and Climate Week, and online via Zoom. We value the participation of stakeholders from all Western Balkan countries. The event will be held in English.
The ECEMF aims to provide the knowledge to inform the development of future energy and climate policies at national and European levels. It is funded by Horizon 2020, and its purpose is to establish a European focal point, the forum, that will bring together energy and climate researchers and policymakers to address the key challenges of our time, such as how to achieve climate neutrality. The forum consists of many experienced research centres in the EU dealing with the analysis of climate and energy policy, including KTH, IIASA, CMCC, E3M, CAKE. For more information about the ECEMF, visit our website where you can subscribe to our newsletter, and follow us on Twitter and LinkedIn.
The workshop agenda is being prepared and will be shared once confirmed. We will provide further details to all participants on how to connect to the online platform for the meeting.
