Stakeholder engagement for co-designing European climate and energy research priorities

ECEMF recently published a journal article on “Stakeholder engagement for co-designing European climate and energy research priorities”.

ECEMF has conducted a continual programme of stakeholder engagement throughout the four years of the project, building on the workshops described in this paper. The project has engaged hundreds of stakeholders, and co-designed 85 research priorities listed in the paper.  These priorities helped direct the research conducted in the ECEMF project.

In this latest study published in Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, the authors

  • Critically review how stakeholder engagement based on workshops has been previously approached in EU climate and energy research.
  • Outline the process and stakeholder engagement methods developed and implemented within the ECEMF project, providing a blueprint for future European projects.
  • Offer insights into stakeholder priorities concerning energy and climate research needs during the 2021–2022 period and an accompanying dataset that can be used for further research.
